More Celebration...oh and Stanley

So...interesting time out at Trey's favorite birthday restaurant. We let Flat Stanley out of the know, to give him another chance...but he was at it again!

Laura was so embarrassed she was hiding!

He brought his skateboard and was zooming all over the table!

He wanted to eat all the yummy, special seasoning! He also wanted to send Mr. Mike and Ms. Michelle some, but he didn't have enough money:(

He put extra lemons in Alex's cup and look what happened to his lips!

Oh and surprise! Laura and Garrison's too!

He got Miss Laura and Garrison to pose for this pic and then yelled across the restaurant that they were kissin' cousins from Kentucky!

He just ducked under the table and pinched Trey on the bottom here!

Then, he tried to hide in the plants and we couldn't find him! The manager spotted him!

He jumped on this picture and started squealing like King Kong was gonna eat him! Laura had to pull him by the leg and get him down!

So what does FS do??? He jumps on her head!

I am sad to report that as soon as we returned home, Miss Laura left immediately. She made up some lame excuse about needing to be at a class to learn about being an advocate for kids in the court system...but I really think she just needed to get away from Flat Stanley!
Dylan...we're sorry, but this guy is a handful and he has a one-way ticket back to you dude!
Tom just ignored him and played with his "girlfriend."
But Trey was letting NOTHING ruin his time! He was havin' fun!

Happy Birthday to Trey!

Are you kidding me? My baby boy is SEVEN? I am in such denial!

But yes, there he is...almost too big for my with wrinkles and droopy eyes and daddy with much less hair! Where does the time go? He is changing right before my eyes. His baby cheeks are slipping away.

He likes big boy toys of mass destruction...weaponry! Toys that make him feel like a man who can conquer and protect, for he feels that passion inside of him...that one that God put there because he was made in the image of God...who calls Himself a warrior! Shame on the moms who try to suppress this in their young men...trying to get them to sit still and be quiet like little girls...and then wonder why when they grow up they won't take initiative and lead! No wonder military enlistments are low! Well, not this momma! Conquer the world son!

It can be hard when they start to grow outside of your little circle and you have to share their affections, but oh what a blessing to have so many people in their lives that love them!

Sometimes it's funny just to give the "baby" some baby gifts know because you're in denial...(it's espeically funny when big brother wraps it in baby shower paper;)

Does he care what shape it's in? No way! Secure in his manhood he is!!! It's candy and candy he loves:)

Chocolate...his favorite!!!

And what about those gifts he acts embarrassed about, but you know he is gonna relish when nobody is looking?

A growin' man has gotta look good!

But, he needs to keep in mind that he isn't too big for a spankin'! (See Didi saying, "Poppa, that's too hard." I say, "Carry on Pop! It's building character!" hee hee)

Good that God gives him buddies to march along with on this journey... stand beside him through the thick and thin...the ups and downs... Sure, some might fight with him, but they will also fight FOR him.

And love him much when he stumbles.

He has an heritage. A legacy has been passed to him.

He can do this thing! And every year he gets stronger and stronger!

We love you Trey. We believe in you. You are a man after God's own heart.

May you have the persistance of Moses, the patience of Job, the faith of Noah, the devotion of Enoch, the forgiveness of Joseph, the wisdom of Solomon, and the obedience of Jesus.

(And perhaps marry a girl from the Hershey family!!!???)

Take life in stride. Remember what's important.

And cake a few friends along the way...just because!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our Second Day with Stanley

The boys have an assignment to learn what causes a volcano to erupt. We decided to break out one of the experiment boxes sitting on the shelf and build a volcano. Flat Stanley didn't know quite what to think of all this, but he was very excited. The boys didn't want to get their hands dirty! Can you believe that? I think Daddy needs to work with these boys a little more! SHEEZ!

Well, Flat Stanley managed to settle down after the soda escapade. He and Trey were running to change clothes after volcanoe building so we could read and poor lil Trey hit his toe on the coach! As you can see, FS was right there with him, making sure he was okay!
We even caught FS on Alex's bed reading the Bible. He said he was feeling a little bad about all his mischief!
Here he is all cuddled up with Trey as we read about Mount St. Helens erupting.
And even when we had finished reading, FS just couldn't stop! Dylan, did you know he liked to read this much? Garrison asked him how he learned to read so well and Flat Stanley said he just kept practicing and practicing. He said he even used to get really frustrated trying to learn how to read, sometimes even crying! But, he said his mom and dad worked with him and finally he got it. Now he loves to read about all kinds of things! We plan to find him lots of books tonight so if he wakes up, he can just read instead of fan flying!
Here is a picture of him while he is waiting for the volcano to harden so it can be painted.
And here he is after it's all done. Next week, he will help the boys make their presentation! He says he loves Science.
After school, we took a trip to the Ohio River waterfront. Yesterday, Mr. Tom spotted these ships from the bridge. We looked it up online and what do you know? These are replica ships of Christopher Columbus' two ships, the Nina and the Pinta! FS thought this was amazing. He let us know that he likes studying history too. He said it has been really fun visiting so many different places.
The Pinta

The Nina is to the left.

Here they were all running around having fun.
I thought this was a funny picture. It's hard to see FS. He is with Trey.
On the way back home, we thought FS would enjoy swinging by the Louisville Slugger Museum and taking a picture with the largest bat in the world!

FS thought it was a pretty cool day. He says to tell you hi Dylan and he will see you again soon. We are off to have dinner now and then to see cousin Hadassah's and Julianna's volleyball game.
